What is Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy?
In life we are often faced with experiences that challenge us to the core of our being. These challenges can often stir up inner experiences of helplessness, depression, anxiety, fear and various other emotions, and these emotions can also manifest in physical symptoms, disease and various addictions.
The Holistic approach that I work with is based on the highly developed skills of Process-Oriented Psychology and the understanding of the Human being and life span through the lens of Spiritual Science. These methods allow us to work on your own unique, individual process, integrating all of your inner and outer experiences to bring meaning, transformation and insight into your life.
PTSD & Trauma Informed Therapy
Trauma discombobulates the nervous system, triggering the individual into a continuous state of survival and hyperarousal. The nervous system functions as if it is in constant danger and fear and needs to be reset into real time. It needs to discharge itself of any residual energy that had been activated for survival at the time of the traumatic event/s.
The most effective way of bringing the nervous system back into a state of equilibrium is to bring the individual into the here and now, through body awareness. This is an essential phase of the healing process that is required in order to be fully released from the trauma. This modality of trauma informed therapy has the potential to open up new, positive neural pathways that break the cycle of fear and immobility created during traumatic events.
